Iraki´s PM Information office stated that ¨The Council of Ministers, chaired by PM Haidar Al Abadi on February 23rd, 2016, approved on the Ministry of Finance to ensure the financing of the Al Rusafa Stadium project, custody of Spanish Company Triarena, the remaining amount of appropriation of $14 Million. ¨
The Information Office also added that ¨ The Council of Ministers stipulated that the payment will be done in 2018 from the Ministry of Youth and Sports´ allocations.
On his part, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Abd Al Hussain Abtan, stated that ¨ The Council of Ministers approved on the Ministry of Finance to ensure the financing of the Al Rusafa Stadium Project by providing the rest of the amount of appropriation in 2018 from the Ministry of Youth and Sports´ allocations¨. Minister Abtan also thanked the Council of Ministers for approving to ensure the financing of the project.
Minister Abtan added that he ¨was willing to put everything in to solve all the problems faced by the Al Rusafa Stadium project which is located in Bagdad and has a capacity of 30.000 spectators, and to overcome the financial difficulties and seek ways¨ to allow work to continue and be completed.
Minister Abtan also confirmed that ¨ The Ministry continues its efforts for the completion of a number of sports projects¨.
Spanish Company Triarena oversees the Al Rusafa Stadium which includes an Olympic playground, a capacity of 30.000 spectators, two training courses with capacities of 500 and 2.000 spectators, athletic tracks, and a 4-star hotel of 50 rooms.
